Report of the UN Secretary-General on “Progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals”

The Report of the Secretary-General on “Progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals” will be presented and discussed at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (5 -16 July 2022).

The Ρeport provides a global overview of the current situation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) using inputs from more than 50international and regional organizations. The report presents the reversal, since 2020, of progress achieved over the last decade in the majority of SDGs, most prominently Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere and Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, mainly due to COVID-19 pandemic. However, the report also shows that already negative trends have exacerbated, particularly Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable Agriculture. Moreover, the war in Ukraine will further increase the number of people globally in situations of hunger or food insecurity, the Report alerts.
