The 2030 Agenda is a collective responsibility covering all levels of governance (global, national, territorial) that aims to address current and emerging challenges through the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For this purpose, a coherent multilateral system will be essential to deliver the necessary economic, social and environmental transformations.
The 2018 edition of “Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development” (PCSD) shows how integrated and coherent policies, supported by the appropriate institutional mechanisms, can contribute to the “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies”, which is the theme of the 2018 United Nations High-level Political Forum (HLPF).
This report stresses critical interlinkages among the SDGs under review by the 2018 HLPF, identifies good institutional practices and suggests eight building blocks for enhancing Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development. The report includes 19 country profiles and sets out options for tracking progress on PCSD at a national level.
