The devastating floods and landslides that hit the border area between Nepal and Tibet on 26 August 2026 created major and immediate needs. Essential infrastructure such as bridges, main roads and communication networks were destroyed and entire settlements have suffered massive damage from the floods and mudslides, resulting in the displacement of many families and the search for temporary shelter in tents and reception centers. The destruction of road networks and mountain highways is hampering search and rescue operations and the supply of food and essential medical supplies.
Greece contributed the amount of 200,000 euros to strengthen the actions of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the humanitarian response to the devastating floods in Nepal.
