The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is currently active in more than 90 countries around the world, in collaboration with the staff and volunteers of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. In 2026, it continues to fulfill its mission to promote the protection of people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. Most of its operations are developed in Africa. However, its top five operations concern the regions of the Near and Middle East (Occupied Palestinian Territories, Syria and Yemen), Ukraine and Afghanistan.
Following a Greek contribution of 100,000 euros to strengthen the humanitarian program of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Syria in 2025, our country contributed the amount of 200,000 euros to strengthen the ICRC’s humanitarian program in Syria in 2026.
