The Director General of the General Directorate for Development and Humanitarian Aid(Hellenic Aid) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Alexandros Diakopoulos, participated, in the meeting of the EU Development Directors-General Meeting, which took place on 28 September 2022.The morning session of the meeting focused on Global Gateway Implementation and the afternoon session on two themes, Team Europe Response to Global Food Insecurity: food production and COP27 of the UNFCC (7-18 November 2022, Egypt) and the COP15 on biodiversity (5-17 December 2022, Canada).
In his intervention, on the Global Gateway Implementation, Mr. Diakopoulos referred to the Global Gateway as an opportunity to engage more actively with the private sector on the strategic orientations and implementation of the EU external investment for development.
He also underlined the Greek interest in “green transition”, referring, in particular, to the Greece-Egypt electrical interconnection project, for which he requested the support of the Commission, as well as to the significant expertise that Greece has on “green hydrogen” and that Greek companies could be more involved in relevant projects sharing their knowledge.
