The Deputy Director General for Development and Humanitarian Assistance Mr. Athanassios Zontanos, will participate in the 2022 Arab-DAC/OECD Dialogue on Development, which will take place on September 15th in Brussels, hosted by the European Union. The Dialogue is convened by the Arab Co-ordination Group (ACG),and the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and will focus on the modalities of financing the response to global crises as well as on specifying ways of cooperation and coordination on the issues of Climate Change and the Green Transition.
The meeting will be co-chaired by Mr. Bader M. Alsaad, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) and Chair of the Arab Co-ordination Group (ACG) and Ms. Susanna Moorehead, Chair of DAC.
The Arab Coordination Group and DAC are meeting regularly to discuss development issues, coordination of activities as well as their respective experiences in order to learn from each other and ultimately enhance effectiveness in the delivery of development assistance. The Dialoguesare important, asArab donors have been providing substantial amounts of official development assistance. In the previous years, Arab-DAC Dialogues have taken place in Kuwait (2009), Vienna (2010), London (2011), Kuwait (2014), Paris (2015), Vienna (2016), Berne (2017), Kuwait (2019) and virtually in 2021.
