On Friday, February 8th, a workshop on “The National Implementation Action Plan for Sustainable Development Goals” was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The workshop, co-organized by YDAS-3, Directorate for Geographical Policy and Strategic Planning and the General Secretariat of Government (Office of Coordination, Institutional, International and European Affairs), was attended by representatives of all Ministries and of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Overall, more than 65 representatives of Ministries and the wider public sector participated in the workshop.
During the workshop, Heads of the Diplomatic Missions of Kingdom of Denmark (Mr. Klavs Arnoldi Holm, Ambassador), Ireland (Ms Orla O’Hanrahan, Ambassador), Finland (Mr. Juha Markus Pyykkö, Ambassador) as well as Ms Katerina Fialkova, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic presented their countries’ National Action Plan for the Implementation of the SDGs. In addition, Mr. Nikolaos Trantas, Head of the Office of Coordination, Institutional, International and European Affairs, of the General Secretariat of Government, presented the existing structure of the implementation of SDGs in Greece.
The aim of the workshop was to facilitate the exchange of experiences on successful policies, best practices and approaches, as well as to allow for the transfer of know-how on challenges regarding the preparation, implementation and monitoring processes of National Implementation Action Plans for the SDGs.
The presentations on the challenges faced by Denmark, Ireland, Finland and the Czech Republic at the preparation phase of the National Implementation Action Plans, were followed by discusssions.
