Summary of the Sixth Biennial High-Level Meeting of the Development Cooperation Forum, New York, 21-22 May 2018

The Secretariat submitted (E/2018/73) to the High Level Political Forum, convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council, a summary of the sixth biennial high-level meeting of the Development Cooperation Forum. The meeting was convened at UN Headquarters in New York on 21-22 May 2018 on the theme “The strategic role of development cooperation in achieving the 2030 Agenda: building sustainable and resilient societies”. This summary is submitted pursuant to resolution 67/290 (Format and organizational aspects of the high-level political forum on sustainable development), according to which the meetings of the High Level Political Forum must take into account the work of the Development Cooperation Forum. The meeting brought together over 300 high-level and senior representatives of Governments and stakeholders to review trends, progress and emerging issues in international development cooperation. One overarching message that emerged from the Development Cooperation Forum was that in order to meet the deadlines and expectations of the 2030 Agenda, development cooperation must change radically.
