Ms Eleni Nikolaidou, Director of Development Cooperation Policy of Hellenic Aid was invited by the Under-Secretary-General of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Mr. LI Junhua, to participate as a speaker in the High Level Panel discussion on the priority theme of the 62nd session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD62), “Fostering Social Development and Social Justice through Social Policies to Accelerate Progress on the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to Achieve the Ovearching Goal of Poverty Eradication”.
The 62nd session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD62) convened at the United Nations headquartes in New York from 5-14 February 2024.
Ms Nikolaidou participated as a speaker to the High Level Panel discussion on 5 February 2024 and her presentation focused on the participatory process in the design, implementation and follow-up of social policies and other sectoral policies, central to fostering social justice-what can development cooperation actors do to establish the conditions for an inclusive decision-making process.
The panel discussion focused on how social policies can become more effectivein achieving inclusive, resilient and equitable societies that leave no one behind. It identified opportunities and shared experiences and lessons of how social policies can better support social progress.
