During her speech, at the informal meeting of ministers for development, held in Brussels (11-12 February 2024), Secretary General for International Economic Relations of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms Maira Myrogianni, underlined that Greece supports the “Ukraine Facility” for the reconstruction of Ukraine, proposed by the European Commission, and will continue to stand by the country.
In this context, the Secretary General informed the participants that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the European Investment Bank, will hold a Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, in Athens, on February 15, 2024 and also made reference to the Conference regarding the EU’s “Global Gateway” Strategy, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in November 2023.
During the Council, a discussion was held with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, with an emphasis on the creation of a human rights economy. At the same time, the head of the UN Office for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, informed about the latest developments, as well as the needs of the region for humanitarian aid.
