Peer reviews are the most important tool of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) for accountability. They provide an in-depth assessment of a DAC member’s strengths and challenges and they enable DAC members to give feedback and learn from each other’s experiences.
Peer review recommendations help DAC members to make the most of their development co-operation and hold DAC members to account against their commitments and international standards.
Peer review assessments are based on an agreed methodology and analytical framework. Each member is reviewed every six years, with a mid-term review to track progress in between. The review team consists of two representatives from two DAC members designated as peers and a core team of Secretariat staff.
In this context, Greece has been designated as a reviewer, together with Lithuania, for the second Peer Review of the Slovak Republic, scheduled for 2025. The Slovak Republic, which joined the DAC in 2013, had its first peer review in 2019.
