On May 26, 2025, the Foreign Affairs (Development) Council; took place in Brussels.
This was the first FAC DEV meeting under the presidency of the high representative, Kaja Kallas. The Presidents of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) also participated.
Key topics of the meeting included: (a) Financing for Development (FfD), (b) European Union – Africa Relations and (c) the EU’s external action post-2027.
Additionally, the following were discussed: (a) the EU’s Ukraine Plan and how to ensure a coordinated support from Team Europe, (b) the outcomes of the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit (Paris, March 27-28, 2025), (c) Slovenia’s initiative for a joint letter to Commissioner Sikela regarding the involvement of the private sector in “Global Gateway”, and (d) a Spanish non-paper on development cooperation issues in the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
Greece was represented by the Director-General for Development and Humanitarian Aid at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mr. Dimitris Caramitsos-Tziras.
