The European Union Development Cooperation Directors-General meeting took place on October 8-9, 2024, in Budapest. Greece was represented by the Director General for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador, Mr. Dimitris Caramitsos-Tziras.
During the meeting, the Directors General had the opportunity to discuss the following topics:
- EU Development Approach in Fragile Contexts – lessons learned. An open discussion on more effectively addressing the root causes of migration through resilience and linking it to development, humanitarian aid, peace and security.
- EU Development Approach in Fragile Contexts – the way forward. A discussion on experiences of member states and the European Commission in ensuring effective engagement in fragile countries and in mobilising development financing for fragile contexts.
- Progress in Global Gateway implementation. Member states shared progress and approaches in setting up their “Team National” to boost engagement with the private sector to implement Global Gateway. Four member states (Greece, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden) shared their progress in developing their “Team National”. Greece presented the implementation process of “Team Greece” which aims to inform Greek businesses about the opportunities presented in the context of the Global Gateway Strategy.
