The Fetal Medicine Unit at the University Gynecology Clinic in Skopje, in collaboration with the Medical Faculty of the University of Skopje, organized a conference on May 19, 2025, in honor of Professor Kypros Nicolaides. The event was held in light of the decision by the Saints Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje to confer upon him the title of Honorary Professor. The official ceremony is expected to take place at a later date at the University.
The Fetal Medicine Unit was established under the Fetal Medicine Programme 2022-2025, implemented by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the “Fetal Medicine Foundation.” The trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (between the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health of North Macedonia, and the “Fetal Medicine Foundation”) was completed on December 9, 2022, with the signature of the Minister of Health of North Macedonia, Dr. Bekim Sali.
The conference was attended by a large number of professionals in the field of fetal medicine, and Professor Nicolaides’ contribution to the development of the specialty in North Macedonia was warmly acknowledged. Among the participants were professors from the medical schools of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Ioannina, where upcoming training seminars will also be held.
The Ambassador of Greece to Skopje, Ms. Sofia Philippidou, attended the conference and delivered an address.
