Peer reviews are the most important tool of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) for accountability. They provide an in-depth assessment of a DAC member’s strengths and challenges and they enable DAC members to give feedback and learn from each other’s experiences.
Peer review recommendations help DAC members to make the most of their development co-operation and hold DAC members to account against their commitments and international standards.
Peer review assessments are based on an agreed methodology and analytical framework. Each member is reviewed every six years, with a mid-term review to track progress in between. The review team consists of two representatives from two DAC members designated as peers and a core team of Secretariat staff.
In this context, the 5th peer review of Greece’s development cooperation system will take place between October 2025 and April 2026. The members of the DAC/OECD that will participate as reviewing countries are Poland and Portugal.
The 4th peer review of Greece was conducted during the period from March to November 2018, and the results were published in 2019. Additionally, in November 2022, the mid-term review of the country was conducted.
