
The European Humanitarian Forum (EHF) is a European platform of international reach for open strategic discussions between EU humanitarian policy makers and the international humanitarian community. It is an event of global humanitarian solidarity of the EU, confirming its leading role in the international humanitarian arena.
The 4th EHF (Brussels, 19-20 May 2025) took place amid escalating humanitarian needs, changing geopolitical dynamics and increasing multidimensional crises, such as those in Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine, Sudan and Syria.
The objectives of the Forum were: to reaffirm the EU’s role as a leading donor of humanitarian aid, actor and policy maker, to deepen cooperation between countries in crisis, donors, implementing agencies and local communities, to promote coordinated and sustainable approaches in fragile environments, to provide a platform for dialogue on urgent humanitarian challenges, and to promote collaborative solutions among humanitarian actors for sustainable and effective responses to global humanitarian challenges.
The main focus areas were: the food crisis in the Sahel countries and Lake Chad, the crisis in Afghanistan, synergies with the private sector in fragile environments, the prevention of ethnic violence, fragile environments in Uganda and the Philippines, the environmental economy and humanitarian impacts of climate change, the humanitarian response in Ukraine, the crises in the Middle East and International Humanitarian Law, the crisis in Sudan, the role of humanitarian diplomacy, the humanitarian response in fragile environments, the protection of workers in the humanitarian sector, addressing fragility as Team Europe, and internal displacement in Ecuador.
Greece was represented by the Director-General for Development and Humanitarian Aid at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mr. Dimitris Karamitsos-Tziras.
