Informal Meeting of EU Directors-General for Development Cooperation (Warsaw, 8–9 April 2025)

The informal meeting of Directors-General for Development Cooperation of the European Union took place in Warsaw on 8–9 April 2025. Greece was represented by the Director-General for Development and Humanitarian Aid at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mr. Dimitris Karamitsos-Tziras.

The meeting focused on three main thematic pillars, reflecting the EU’s priorities in development policy and international cooperation:

Fragility and Resilience: Discussions centered on ways to strengthen the resilience of states and societies facing crises, conflicts, or natural disasters. Emphasis was placed on the need for flexible, long-term interventions that promote stability and sustainable development.

Deepening and broadening international partnerships – The role of the EU as a global donor of development and humanitarian aid: The importance of strengthening the EU’s strategic partnerships with key countries and organizations was highlighted, with the aim of more effectively advancing global development and humanitarian efforts.

Global Gateway Strategy: The need to further consolidate this strategy as a key EU instrument to support sustainable investments in partner countries was underlined, with a focus on digital and green infrastructure, as well as enhancing connectivity in line with human rights and the principles of good governance.
