Webinar “Greening Humanitarian Aid” (November 6, 2024)

On Wednesday 6th of November the Z2 Directorate for Development and Humanitarian Action of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a webinar entitled Greening Humanitarian Aid with participants.

Drawing on the European initiative to foster climate protection within the field of humanitarian action, the webinar aimed to underline climate change as a risk multiplier affecting further severe humanitarian crises regarding food insecurity, public health and infectious diseases as well as forced displacements.

The multidimensional threat posed by climate change demands a comprehensive approach, including close collaboration between governmental departments and public agencies, NGOs, cargo companies, academic expertise and local communities. It is important to remind that Greece has recently become a signatory member-state at the Humanitarian Aid Donors’ Declaration on Climate and Environment, launched by DG ECHO of the European Commission in 2022.
